The Theatre is due to reopen in November following a careful restoration, the Theatre's Production and Performance Sub Comittee are now working towards a grand reopening of the site on October 24th.
The work is progressing well and there has been no hold-ups so far so we’re still on course to finish in September. All the work going on at the theatre is about disability access. All the entrances - both into the theatre from the front and going into the backstage - will now be fully accessible to everyone who is disabled.
Although the actual restoration project is expected to finish in late September, the Theatr Group are allowing over a month between the completion and the building’s reopening to account for any delays and final tweaks to be made to the building.
Denbigh town councillor Ian Davies, who is on the theatre’s management committee, was also optimistic about the improvements.
"There’s going to be all sorts of drama and films and other activities at the new theatre. I’m hoping the facility is going to be one people can use and become Denbigh’s theatre for the community."
Among the attractions promised for the newly reopened theatre is a special reopening day on October 25, where performers old and new will be given 15 minute slots to entertain audiences at the venue throughout the day, with films being screened in between acts to highlight the theatre’s versatility.
Event bookings are coming in fast for the theatre, despite its reopening still being more than three months away.
