29 March to 10 May - Gerald Dewsbury & Martin Craddock - Earth Matters

Paintings and ceramics from two artists who have known each other since their childhood and have both since settled in Wales. Gerald's verdant canvases inspired by the Welsh landscape bubble over with observed details while a darker meaning often underlies the seemingly tranquil scenes. Martin produces functional pots in glazed earthenware, striving for strong clean forms and enhancing them with rich layered glazes that create bold contrasts through pattern and texture.

17 May to 29 June - Alistair Tucker - New Mixed Media Work and Etchings

Alistair is based in Oswestry and produces mixed media drawings and etchings inspired by the British landscape.

"My work is based upon the British landscape; its shape and form and the effects of the weather and light upon it. The landscape is always changing depending upon the weather or the season; this excites me enormously and I see my art as a visual record of an ongoing playtime where I am searching, probing, observing what I see, feel and experience whilst outdoors. May aim when working back in the studio is to preserve the frisson of the first encounter, to try and capture the timeless nature of a place, the presence and essence or what Paul Nash called the 'gen ious loci'

5 July to 16 August - Clwydian Art Society

11 October to 22 November - Colin Taylor - A Short Walk in the Big Landscape

Recent paintings and drawings from Colin Taylor, some undertaken in situ and some completed in the studio.

'Landscapes' in some form or another, have figured in my paintings for quite a few years. That inclusion took on more significance after I re-discovered the importance of drawing to my practice. It seems for me at least, to be a way or responding, not so much about a specific place, but more about the experience of being in that place at that time. Consequently, the process of mark making for me is not an optical experience but an emotional one.

The use of charcoal and graphite provides a kind of immediacy that seems to resonate with the eclipse of one moment by another and so extends that experience through a visual language which is to me, more valuable than leaden fact.

Painting/Drawing Master class with Colin and/or talk on his work connected to the inspiration for this experience.

29 November to 10 January - Open Exhibition

Artists from across North Wales will be invited to submit paintings for this open selling exhibition. There will be a size limit, but it will be open to 2D work in all media. An entrance fee will be charged to enter, and there will be a cash prize/prizes awarded.
